Location

I use friendly and discreet professional consultation premises in Twickenham to see clients. These are within easy reach from Richmond upon Thames, Kew, St Margaret’s, Whitton, Hampton and Teddington. All clients will be provided with detailed location information (including car parking and public transport info) and a contact telephone number. Due to COVID-19, all sessions are currently offered online. Face to face consultations will resume as soon as feasible.

What will happen in a session?

I always reserve up to an hour and a half per appointment to give clients the best chance to experience improvements in the shortest time possible. In my experience, the industry standard of 50 or 60 minutes per session simply does not allow enough time to carry out meaningful change work, especially if advanced analytical hypnosis is used. A 90 minutes long session can be far more effective than two 1hr sessions as it avoids having to stop at a critical time due to the next client appearing in the waiting room. I much rather get significant improvements in fewer visits with time for unhurried, deep hypnotic work than asking clients to return multiple times for shorter sessions.

Your visit is likely to begin with a detailed conversation to build up a picture of your case history. This is then followed by establishing your individual therapy goals, your desired outcome of our work together. If you are new to hypnosis, I will explain the process and give you the chance to get a feel for it through some short exercises. There will always be plenty of time for you to ask questions.

Once you have settled in comfortably, I will guide you through your first individually tailored hypnosis session. There will be time for a short de-brief after the session where I will answer any questions that you may have at that point.

You will receive an MP3 recording of a guided hypnosis session for your use in your own time.

Now that you are familiar with hypnosis, the following sessions will be exclusively focussed on the therapeutic work to achieve your goals.

Please note that any sessions involving regression work in deep hypnosis will always be face to face. Other sessions  (i.e. solution focussed, cognitive-behavioural or coaching approaches) and follow-ups can be arranged online. Details regarding the set up will be discussed beforehand.

How many sessions will I need?

This very much depends on the type of problem and the progress made. Compared to other talking therapies, hypnotherapy is a ‘brief therapy’ and my aim will always be to get you to a resolution in the shortest time possible. The majority of problems will need four or five sessions for a lasting resolution. Some, more deep rooted problems, may take a little longer and sometimes other issues are uncovered during a session that you may wish to address. To give clients the best possible start, I always begin with a dedicated programme of 4 sessions. If that’s all we need, great! However, if there is value in more work, that’s an option and follow up sessions can be booked individually.
